A Senior Cardiovascular Surgeon at the Texas Heart Institute (THI), Houston, Texas since 1962, Dr. Grady L. Hallman is a highly skilled and respected surgeon, consultant, and educator who has dedicated his distinguished medical career to the advancement of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery. In addition to performing all types of general and cardiovascular surgery, Dr. Hallman has a special interest in carotid artery surgery.

Dr. Hallman is also on the Active Staff, Cardiovascular Surgery Service, St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital, Houston, Texas. As an educator, Dr. Hallman has held numerous faculty appointments. He is currently Clinical Professor, Cardiothoracic Surgery, The University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, Texas (1975-present), Clinical Professor, Cardiothoracic Surgery, The University of Texas Medical School at Houston (1977-present), and Clinical Professor of Surgery, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas (1994-present).

Grady L. Hallman, M.D. received the Doctor of Medicine degree with honors from Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas in 1954 after receiving a B.A. degree with honors from the University of Texas at Austin. Upon completion of a Rotating Internship at Chicago Wesley Memorial Hospital, Chicago, Illinois (1954-1955), he completed a General Surgery Residency at Baylor College of Medicine Affiliated Hospitals, Houston, Texas in 1961. Dr. Hallman completed a Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Residency at Baylor College of Medicine in 1962.

Dr. Hallman is certified by the American Board of Surgery, the Board of Thoracic Surgery, and received a Certification of Special Qualifications in Vascular Surgery from the American Board of Surgery. He is an active member of numerous professional societies and organizations and was honored as the Medical Honoree of the American Heart Association (1993-1994).

Having held office and served on numerous medical committees, Dr. Hallman is also very active in civic and community organizations. An accomplished musician, he has served in many music and symphony organizations, including as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Houston Symphony Orchestra.
